MoodPlayer Privacy Policy
In short: MoodPlayer is an offline music player. It has no internet permission, no account, no ads and no analytics. Your music, your library and everything MoodPlayer works out about it stay on your phone. The developer collects nothing.
The only party that handles any of your data is Google, and only if you buy the Smart and Deep unlock or use Android's own backup.
What MoodPlayer does on your device
MoodPlayer reads the audio files on your phone and SD card to play them and to analyse them: tempo, energy, mood and similar measurements, worked out on the phone itself by signal processing and a small built-in model. It builds an index of your library and stores those results, your settings and any corrections you make (for example "this track doesn't fit this channel") in the app's private storage.
MoodPlayer never changes, uploads or copies your audio files.
What the developer collects
Nothing. The app has no internet permission, so it cannot send anything to the developer or to anyone else. There is no analytics, crash reporting, advertising or tracking code that reports to the developer, and no advertising identifier is used.
Purchases
The Eco analysis mode is free. Smart and Deep analysis are unlocked by a one-time in-app purchase through Google Play. Google processes the payment under the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Play terms. MoodPlayer asks the Google Play app on your phone whether the unlock has been bought and keeps that answer on the phone. It never sees your payment details.
Like any developer selling on Google Play, the developer can see standard order records in the Google Play Console (such as an order number, date, country and price). These are used only for handling refunds and the developer's tax and accounting obligations.
The Google Play Billing library that handles the purchase can include Google's own diagnostic logging. In MoodPlayer it has no internet permission to send that from the app.
Backup
If Android backup is turned on for your Google account, Android may copy MoodPlayer's private data (the library index, analysis results, corrections and settings) to your Google account, the same way it does for other apps. This is controlled by Android and Google, not by MoodPlayer, and you can turn it off in your phone's settings. Your audio files are not part of MoodPlayer's data and are not backed up by the app.
Permissions
| Permission | Why |
|---|---|
READ_MEDIA_AUDIO / READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE | To find, play and analyse the music on your phone and SD card. Read-only. |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS | To show playback controls in the notification. |
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_MEDIA_PLAYBACK | To keep playing when the screen is off or you switch apps. |
WAKE_LOCK | To stop the phone sleeping in the middle of a song. |
RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED | To resume unfinished library analysis after the phone restarts. |
com.android.vending.BILLING | To offer the Smart and Deep unlock through Google Play. |
MoodPlayer does not request internet, location, microphone, contacts or account access.
Deleting your data
Everything MoodPlayer stores is on your phone. Clearing the app's storage in Android settings, or uninstalling the app, deletes it. Uninstalling does not remove the purchase: Google Play keeps that with your Google account, so you can restore it on a new install.
Children
MoodPlayer is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone, children included.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published at this address with a new effective date. A change that would let the app collect or send data would also change the app's permissions, which Google Play shows you before you update.

Questions about this policy can be sent to the developer email address shown on MoodPlayer's Google Play store page.
